Dr. Sabu K U, Lead, Community Public Health, Wayanad regional centre. Dr. Sabu’s work is focused on understanding and mitigating the impacts of climate change on marginalised communities; promoting equitable and sustainable public health solutions. He holds a Ph.D. in Public Health from the Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology, Trivandrum. His doctoral research explored the intersectional vulnerabilities faced by indigenous communities that contribute to poor nutritional outcomes.
As a Post-doctoral Fellow at the Institute of Public Health (IPH), Bengaluru, he contributed to community-based participatory research aimed at addressing health inequities among Adivasi communities, through culturally responsive interventions. His research has focused significantly on the context-specific adaptation strategies of the National Nutrition Mission (POSHAN Abhiyaan) in South India. His academic interests span tribal health equity, maternal and child nutrition, climate resilience, social exclusion of marginalized communities, and strengthening health systems. Dr. Sabu’s work has been recognized through fellowships such as the Emerging Voices for Global Health Fellowship, India Health Policy and Systems Research Fellowship, and the DGD fellowship from the Government of Belgium.
