Restoring Coastal Ecosystems, Empowering Communities

Samudra captures transformative stories of change along India’s coastal and marine ecosystems. Rooted in our Coastal Systems Research (CSR) strategy, it blends ecological restoration with community empowerment to tackle challenges like habitat degradation, marine debris, declining fisheries, and climate change.

At MSSRF, initiatives like the Coastal Resources and Fisheries Programme and the Fish for All Centre drive sustainable management of critical habitats—mangroves, coral reefs, tidal marshes, and seagrass beds. Our participatory governance model promotes eco-friendly livelihoods, rehabilitation of small-scale fishers, and climate adaptation practices.

Samudra showcases how vibrant coastal ecosystems and resilient communities can thrive together. With collective action, scientific innovation, and global partnerships, we are shaping a sustainable future for our oceans and coastal communities.
