Story 4: How e-marketing enabled Hill brooms collecting tribal women to access market
The tribal women in Kotia village, Pottangi block of koraput they collect and make Jhadus (Hill Brooms) for their livelihoods. Normally, middle men used to purchase from them at very low price and sale them in bulk for higher prices. However, during the pandemic, they don’t have access to marketing facilities.
The Koraput Administration took appropriate action, through TDCC and ORMAS created an e-market link with Amazon. Now the Koraput Hill Broom is sold online with better price (Available in E-Bazar like Amazon.in ). The tribal women are now happy with the broom business during this Covid -19 pandemic situation that restored with their new skills on digital platform.
