Brief description:
The project on knowledge and skill enhancement for establishing biocontrol units aims to help Better Cotton program partners control pests and diseases in cotton across Dule and Aurangabad districts in Maharashtra and Patan district in Gujarat. The main focus of this project is establishing bio-inputs production unit to enable the farmers to adopt the bio input practices for cotton cultivation season. Apart from the production of Bio-inputs, the project aims to Train and capacitating partner agency staff to establish production units, ensuring the availability of biocontrol measures locally, enable farmers to easily purchase and apply these measures in their fields, Train the farmer groups, Self-Help Groups (SHGs), and Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) members in the future, serving as Training of Trainers (ToTs) to ensure the availability of these biocontrol measures at their doorsteps, Ensuring the timely reach of timely reliable advisories regarding IPM, IDM and INM to the cotton farmers, Reduce the cost of pest control at the farm level, prevent the use of chemical pesticides, and promote the use of cost-effective, sustainable, and eco-friendly methods for pests and disease management.
