Brief description:

The project aims to improve water use efficiency through both demand and supply ends by promoting Alternate Wetting-Drying (AWD), runoff harvesting, groundwater recharge, soil moisture management, stakeholder participation, and convergence with government schemes—targeting 20% of water savings.

Improve water use efficiency through changes in irrigation regime and production system in paddy, Banana, coconut and Vegetables cultivation.  

In this project working in three revenue villages of Periakulam block and working with More than 1000 farmers particularly small and marginal farmers. In this project create water harvesting structures especially Farm ponds, well recharge structures, trenches in individual farmers land and Desilting of tanks and pond, Percolation ponds in community land. Some technologies and methods are using for water use efficiency such as  Panipipe method, Direct seeded Rice (DSR) and Sensor based soil health monitoring. MSSRF facilitate the participation of associated stakeholders, mainly water users’ groups, panchayat raj institutions and men and women farmers to take ownership and take informed decisions in managing water.
