Ph.D. and Postdoctoral Opportunities at the M.S. Swaminathan Research Foundation
M.S. Swaminathan Research Foundation (MSSRF) is committed to generate new knowledge through cutting-edge research in the disciplines of Biotechnology, Biodiversity and Economics. MSSRF is also recognized by the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR), as a Research and Development (R&D) organisation with adequate facilities to support research in the disciplines mentioned above.
Ph.D. program
MSSRF is affiliated with the University of Madras for our Ph.D. programme. Scientific staff/faculty members at MSSRF are recognized research supervisors in their respective fields by the University of Madras. MSSRF offers research positions that lead to doctoral (Ph.D.) degrees in the above-mentioned fields, thereby equipping scholars with the analytical and methodological skills required to make impactful contributions in their areas of expertise. The recruitment for the Ph.D. programs is as follows:
- For project positions, MSSRF calls for applications. Interested candidates with post-graduation in the above disciplines are eligible to apply.
- Candidates who have qualified national-level eligibility tests with fellowships such as DBT-NER, CSIR-NET, UGC-NET are also encouraged to apply, provided their research interests are well aligned with the strategic research areas.
- Candidates who have cleared the Indian Council of Social Sciences Research (ICSSR) and Rajiv Gandhi National Fellowship (RGNF) are also eligible to apply
Postdoctoral Fellowships
MSSRF also invites applications from scholars interested in pursuing Postdoctoral Research in our core thematic areas. Researchers are encouraged to apply for fellowships supported by leading national funding agencies, including the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), and the Department of Science and Technology (DST). Eligible candidates can also apply for fellowships like:
- The Ramalingaswami Re-entry Fellowship
- Women Scientists Scheme – A (WOS-A)
- Women Scientists Scheme – B (WOS-B), Science & Engineering Research Board (SERB) etc. These fellowships offer a platform for early-career researchers to undertake independent research and contribute to socially relevant scientific advancements.
