The project undertakes a critical review and assessment of the implications and potential of the existing IPCC reports in the light of India’s needs and challenges in global climate action. Elements of the project include a detailed assessment of the Shared Social-Economic Pathways (SSPs), now a critical element in IPCC work from a global collective action perspective including equity, and defining India’s mitigation challenges and constraints in the context of the behaviour and policies of other actors. This work will also aid the evolution and dissemination of a framework for the Global Stocktake within the perspective of ‘equity and the best available science’ as per both the Paris Agreement and Katowice Texts.

Under this project, MSSRF launched the Climate Equity Monitor – an online dashboard to assess equity in climate action in relation to climate mitigation, energy and resource consumption, and climate policy across the entire world. The Monitor is the first such initiative from the global South to compare policies and actions of Annex-I and Non-Annex-I Parties from the perspective of equity and CBDR&RC. A Climate Equity Report is also in the pipeline as part of the project.
